Michael Johnson, Ph.D. University of Arizona

Michael D. L. Johnson received his bachelors in Music from Duke University. He then obtained a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Biophysics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. For his postdoctoral training, Dr. Johnson went to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for two fellowships, one in infectious diseases and one in Immunology. While at St. Jude, he started a STEM podcast for kids called Science Sound Bites. Dr. Johnson is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Immunobiology of the University of Arizona where he studies the role of metals in bacterial systems.
