Registration & Housing FAQ

Are meals included with the purchase of a conference registration?

Yes, the conference registration fee includes all scheduled meals, which include Wednesday dinner; Thursday lunch and dinner; Friday lunch; and Saturday lunch and closing banquet.

Can non-conference participants attend the closing banquet on Saturday?

Yes, banquet-only passes can be purchased during onsite registration hours. The cost is $100 to attend.

Does the conference provide any transportation from the airport to the hotel or convention center?

No, all attendees must provide their own transportation to and from the airport and to and from the convention center. All hotels are within walking distance of the convention center.

Does ABRCMS coordinate roommate assignments?

No, ABRCMS staff will not coordinate the assignment of roommates for the conference. All attendees are responsible for making their own housing arrangements.

Where will the conference sessions be held?

All sessions, including the poster/oral presentations and exhibit hall, will be held at the Tampa Convention Center (sessions) 333 S. Franklin Street, the Embassy Suites (sessions & affiliated events) 513 S Florida Ave, and the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina (affiliated events) 700 South Florida Ave.

Does ABRCMS accept purchase order payments?

No, accepted forms of payment are University/Institute check, money order, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express, and wire transfer.

Should I address my check or money order to ASM or Experient?

Please make your University/Institute check payable to "American Society for Microbiology" or "ASM."

How do I cancel my registration?

All registration cancellations must be in writing and postmarked by October 12, 2016 using the cancellation form. The conference fee, minus a $100 administrative fee, will be refunded for cancellations received by that date. Please note, no refunds will be granted after October 12, 2016. Contact Experient directly at 866-221-7862 (inside the US), or 240-439-2989 (outside the US).

Can I register more than one person online?

Yes, once you've gotten to the point of completion in your registration, a booking summary will come up as your next screen. From the summary, select "Register Another Person."

Do I have to fully complete my registration online once I begin or can I begin the process and complete it later?

Our username and password feature allows you to return to complete your registration no matter where you are in the process.

If I miss the registration deadline, can I register onsite?

The website will reflect onsite registration prices after October 12, 2016. After the discount deadline, you will be able to register online or onsite at the higher price.

If I preregister for the conference, can I make a payment with someone else's credit card on-site?

Yes, but you will need to have (i) a statement authorizing your use of the credit card and (ii) photocopies of the cardholder's ID and the front and back of the credit card. The statement needs to include current contact information for the cardholder, the amount to charge, and the cardholder's signature.

Can I pay with a check onsite?

Yes, the check must be made out to "ASM" and in the amount of the onsite rates that are applicable to the type of registrant you are. Please note that personal checks are not accepted.

I am preregistered for the conference, but haven't paid. Can I still pay the preregistered amount onsite?

Yes, the check must be made out to "ASM" and in the amount of the onsite rates that are applicable to the type of registrant you are. Please note that personal checks are not accepted.

How can I get another copy of my registration confirmation letter?

Log back into your registration account and select "view/resend letter" on the confirmation page. If you do not have access to the Internet, call Experient directly (866-221-7862) and request another email confirmation.

Can I register on-site to attend the conference for one day?

Yes. One-day registration fee is $275 for undergraduate students; $300 for graduate students/postdoctoral scientists; and $325 for nonstudents. Closing banquet ticket is $100.
